Meet My Family...
I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Todd, for 32 years. We have 2 sons, Justin & Jake. In November 2011, we were blessed to have our beautiful daughter-in-law, Marissa, added to our family. Both Justin & Marissa are graduates of Lander University & they live in Anderson. Our youngest son, Jake, is a Senior at Upstate & will become a secondary Spanish teacher. He is already loving his education classes! He stops by my classroom often to speak with the kids. You may also see my husband greeting the students in the mornings on the sidewalk. He is a mentor for our iLead program & he loves giving the students "high fives" & getting them excited about the school day.
As a family, we enjoy camping, swimming, fishing, water skiing, kayaking, playing Smasher (our own version of badminton on steroids!), playing board games, & having friends over for backyard cook-outs & corn-hole competitions. We have recently fell in love with kayaking! This has become a family affair. My husband & I enjoy riding his motorcycle on warm afternoons. Personally, I love to read, garden, walk, scrapbook, journal, & bake. Did I mention I love to fish?
It is a dream come true for me to be teaching. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Upstate (Go Spartans!) and completed my Masters degree at Anderson University (Go Trojans). I have spent my life working with children in all kinds of various roles: coaching soccer, coaching basketball, Sunday School teacher, youth leader & mentor, & serving on various youth & children's committees. My greatest accomplishment has been being a mom to my own children. I know how much my children mean to me & that is all the more why I consider it an honor to be your child's teacher. I appreciate your trust & do not take that responsibility lightly.
"Teachers teach because they care. Teaching young people is what they do best. It requires long hours, patience, and care."
